NHL stars and alumni are coming to Kelowna Hockey Fest this summer.

Kelowna High Performance (KHP) and GSL Group are putting on the event that takes place at Prospera Place on Friday, August 23.

“The love for hockey runs deep in Kelowna and this event offers our community the chance to share their love for the sport and their beautiful city,” said Mark Fitzgerald, co-owner KHP.

Festivities include a kids zone, hockey-themed competitions, food vendors, a beer garden, and a merchandise tent.

The Kelowna Hockey Fest pro game starts at 6 p.m. at Prospera Place, with a chance for fans to see their favourite players.

NHL alumni and current stars include Tyler Myers (Vancouver Canucks/Kelowna Rockets), Ethan Bear (Washington Capital), Damon Severson (Columbus Blue Jackets/Kelowna Rockets), Brenden Dillion (Winnipeg Jets), Joel Edmundson (Toronto Maple Leafs), and Curtis Lazar (New Jersey Devils), along with newly drafted young players.

Coaching the teams are recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and Kelowna Rocket, Shea Weber, Brent Seabrook, and former Kelowna Rocket Josh Gorges.

The pro game includes a 50/50 raffle and game-worn jersey auction with proceeds supporting the YMCA of Southern Interior of BC.

“We’re proud to be a leader in connecting communities to sport and are confident this high calibre event will be key to inspiring young athletes in the Okanagan,” said Mike Strawn, with GSL Group.

Tickets are $12 for children under 12, and $22-$30 for adults. They’re available on the SelectYourTickets website.
