Highway 97 north of Summerland will be temporarily closed to all traffic on Friday, Jan. 5, due to blasting work.

Crews will continue to stabilize the site of a rock slide between Callan Road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park, with the highway set to close from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., as a result.

The 1.5-kilometre stretch will reopen as soon as road work and safety assessments are complete, AIM Roads says.

Blasting has been scheduled periodically in the area since an August landslide and will continue intermittently until the site is stable.
