PHOTOS: Keremeos Rodeo Grounds become emergency training grounds

Smoke and sirens on June 27 were only part of a large training exercise

The Keremeos Rodeo Grounds were turned into the scene of a sprawling multi-agency emergency - but only as a training exercise.

The training exercise took place on June 27 and covered multiple emergency issues.

In addition to members of the Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department, other first responders including local RCMP were involved in the training exercise.

The simulation included an evolving brush fire that required response for the case of the water system failing and pumping from the Similkameen River.

Rescuing trapped people was also a part of the simulated exercise.

The training also included command exercises and inter-agency communication.
