Nominations are now open for the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce's 37th annual Business Excellence Awards.

Awards are split between 10 different categories, including Business Leader of the Year and Young Business Person of the Year. Nominations are open to businesses in Penticton, as well as surrounding communities from Summerland to Keremeos and Osoyoos.

"We are excited that this day has finally arrived so that residents, employees, and even visitors can take a moment to nominate those outstanding businesses and organizations who have made a positive impact in our community,” said Jordan Knox, president of the Chamber.

The chamber's awards are aimed at providing an opportunity to showcase and honour businesses that have made significant contributions to the local economy, displayed exemplary leadership, and demonstrated a commitment to excellence in their respective fields.

The awards will be presented at an awards gala in October at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

Nominations opened on July 4, and remain open until July 28, after which the nominees will be narrowed down to a shortlist of finalists for further judging. A panel of 13 to 15 volunteers will form the judging comittee.

Businesses and individuals interested in nominating a business can do so online at penticton.org.

The finalists will be announced on Sept. 17, with the winners of each category announced at the gala in October.

For the fifth year in a row, Total Restorations is the main sponsor for the awards.
