Barriere RCMP call in Emergency Response Team to make arrest

The matter was due to outstanding warrants

Barriere RCMP initiated an arrest of a man living in Barriere wanted on a number of outstanding warrants at 11:30 a.m. on Tues. April 23.

Cpl. Kyle Camalush, detachment commander for the Barriere RCMP said the arrest was the result of “the individual’s previous history and with the careful consideration of public safety, assistance was provided by the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).”

The suspect exited his residence and was arrested without incident, with no risk posed to the public.

The 58-year-old man remains in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for April 24.

As the investigation is ongoing, the RCMP will not be releasing further information.

The ERT Tactical Armoured Vehicle was seen parked on the back of a low bed at the Barriere Esso station truck stop just before the arrest time.
